Pelvic pain
Pelvic pain is common, but it is not something you have to live with.
Possible causes
- Painful periods (dysmenorrhea)
- Endometriosis or adenomyosis
- Ovarian cysts
- Uterine fibroids
- Pelvic infections
- Bladder, bowel, or muscle causes
How we evaluate pain
We start with your history and an exam, and may use in-office ultrasound and lab tests. Treatment depends on the cause and can include medications, hormonal treatment, or minimally invasive surgery when needed.
Get emergency care for sudden severe pelvic pain, pain with fever or fainting, or pain or bleeding when you could be pregnant.
