Tdap protects against whooping cough
Tdap helps your body make antibodies that pass to your baby before birth. It is recommended during every pregnancy, ideally early in the 27-to-36-week window, even if you received it during a previous pregnancy. A sore arm, tiredness, headache, or mild fever may occur. Serious allergic reactions are rare. Do not receive Tdap after a severe allergic reaction to a previous dose or component, or after unexplained encephalopathy, a serious brain reaction, within seven days of a previous pertussis-containing vaccine. Maternal RSV vaccine helps protect your newborn's lungs
Abrysvo is the RSV vaccine used during pregnancy. The usual window is 32 weeks 0 days through 36 weeks 6 days, generally September through January in most of the continental United States. South Florida's RSV season can differ, so your Davie care team should confirm local timing.
If you received maternal RSV vaccine in a previous pregnancy, CDC does not currently recommend repeating it; your baby's clinician should arrange the appropriate infant antibody protection. Most babies need maternal vaccination or infant antibody protection, rather than both. RSV benefits and risks
Maternal vaccination lowers the risk of severe RSV illness in the baby's first months. Soreness, headache, and muscle aches may occur. Trials found a numerical difference in preterm births; a causal link was not established, and the approved pregnancy window helps address the potential concern. Do not receive it after a severe allergic reaction to its ingredients. Moderate or severe current illness may mean delaying either vaccine. FDA Abrysvo information · FDA prescribing information
