Call 911 for severe trouble breathing, chest pain, seizure, collapse, stroke symptoms, or heavy bleeding with faintness or weakness. Call 911 if you are in immediate danger of harming yourself. Use the nearest appropriate emergency department; do not delay emergency care to travel to a preferred hospital.

For these symptoms, time is critical. Go directly to Labor & Delivery at HCA Florida University Hospital rather than waiting for a callback or an office appointment:
- Reduced or absent movement after you have established your baby's usual pattern.
- Leaking fluid, significant vaginal bleeding, or regular painful contractions before 37 weeks.
- Severe or persistent abdominal pain, severe headache, vision changes, or sudden marked face or hand swelling.
- Fever of 100.4°F or higher, especially if you feel unwell.
- Vomiting that prevents drinking, very little urine, or faintness.
- One-sided leg pain, redness, or swelling.
Heavy bleeding, a gush or leak of fluid from the vagina, and decreased fetal movement are especially time-sensitive. These symptoms should not wait for a routine appointment or portal response. CDC urgent maternal warning signs
Call the office during business hours
For non-emergency concerns, call during office hours, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Examples include burning with urination, new light spotting, worsening nausea while you can still drink, or a new symptom that worries you. Mild, stable heartburn, constipation, or hand tingling can also start with an office call. We prefer to see you in person so we can examine you and choose the right treatment, rather than relying on a phone or telehealth assessment alone. When you arrive, tell hospital staff you are pregnant. If you are more than 20 weeks pregnant, you will be taken to Labor & Delivery for obstetric evaluation.
